Consumers Digest named six Chevy vehicles among their Automotive Best Buys for the 2012 model year
Whether it's a compact that gives you more or a top-selling high performance sports car, Chevrolet continues to shine through the competition. Consumers Digest recently named six Chevy vehicles among its Automotive Best Buys for the 2012 model year, an honor given after a thorough evaluation on performance qualities such as starting and acceleration, shifting, steering, handling, braking, ride quality, and fuel economy.
"Few purchases are more important, or require more research than buying a new vehicle," says Randy Weber, Consumers Digest's publisher. "Our analyses underscore our commitment to ensure that consumers are as satisfied with their auto purchase years after making it as they were on the day they drove off the lot."
For the 2012 model year, Chevy was recognized with six Best Buys in four categories. In the Sporty Car category, Corvette (excludes ZR1) was named a Best Buy for its seventh year in a row along with Camaro, which also named for its third year in a row. For Compact SUVs, Equinox was named as a Best Buy for its third year in a row. Under Midsize SUVs, Traverse was named as a Best Buy for its fourth year in a row. For the Family Car category, Malibu nabbed another Best Buy rating for its fourth year in a row, along with Cruze , which earned an automotive Best Buy award for its first year ever.
The impressive turn out of the Consumers Digest Best Buy ratings shows that when that time to buy a new car rolls around, Chevy offers a wide spectrum of vehicle choices to best suit your lifestyle, whatever that may be.
If you're into quenching that thirst for power and performance, maybe it's sportier cars like Corvette or Camaro. If you're looking to navigate the twists and turns of modern-day living, taking you from long work commutes to long road trips with family and friends, then perhaps it's a crossover like Equinox or Traverse . And what if you're looking for that smooth mid-size to compact ride that will have you hitting the road in style, then maybe you'll find Malibu or Cruze among your top picks. Whatever your lifestyle calls for, Chevy is there to give you the best pick in vehicles and help take you wherever life leads to.
ANOTHER WIN FOR THE COMPACT THAT'S GENERATING BIG BUZZ
Chevy Cruze is redefining what a compact car can be.
Cruze has already received the coveted "2012 Top Safety Pick" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.2
And the accolades keep coming.
U.S. News and World Report has named the 2012 Cruze "Best Compact Car for the Money."
In choosing Cruze as a "Best Compact Car for the Money", U.S. News and World Report noted that Cruze has been praised by automotive journalists for its great fuel economy,3 roomy cabin and upscale feel for the price. They also took note of a number of popular options like Bluetooth wireless technology for select phones,4 steering wheel-mounted audio controls and a USB port.5
The Best Cars for the Money Awards help identify cars that hit quality and value from all sides. The award-winning vehicles have the best combination of praise from car reviewers and lower up-front and long-term ownership costs. In short, the winners aren't just good cars or good values. They're both.
Sounds just like Cruze to
us.
A new film, CHEVY100: An American Story, explores the historical and cultural relevance of an iconic brand
A century ago Chevrolet had a notion that cars could be so much more than a utility to get people from point A to B. Chevy set out to make something that would stir up emotion and create an intimate relationship between the vehicles and their drivers. What they created impacted the future of automobiles and American culture more than anyone could have predicted. Director, producer and cinematographer Roger Sherman explores Chevy's affect on the last hundred years in his new documentary CHEVY100: An American Story.
"When I received a call from Chevy asking if I'd make a film about the rich 100-year history of Chevrolet, I thought I was dreaming. Telling the stories of Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle? Pinch me," said Sherman. "I'm so proud to be able to bring the history of this iconic American brand to the public."
Moonshine operations, Hollywood sets and stock car races are just part of the story.
"Those who know something about the history of Chevrolet know that the dream car, now known as the concept car, was invented by Harley Earl, the first vice president of design at GM," said Sherman.
The innovative thinking of the concept car connected automobiles to the drive in a new way, giving Chevy the ability to change with the needs and wants of the driver. This altered the driver's relationship with Chevrolet making it more intimate and personal. Owner or not, who doesn't have a nostalgic Chevy story?
"For over thirty years I've been attracted to telling the stories of real people. I try to find subjects who are passionate about their endeavors whether it be someone who's restoring a '55 Chevy or a Medal of Honor recipient," Sherman continues. "We had the opportunity to travel all over the country filming incredible cars, meeting wonderful people, and hearing amazing personal stories about people's love for their Chevys."
CHEVY100: An American Story airs November 21 on the Velocity
Channel.
